Welcome to Whidbey Island in Washington State
We are on an island, but getting here is so easy! Choose the commuter ferry or the drive over scenic Deception Pass.
How To Get Here
Whidbey Island is located in Washington State and is only a one hour drive and a 20 minute ferry ride north of Seattle.
Whidbey Island is a three hour drive south of Vancouver B.C. and an under two hour drive from Bellingham, WA.
From Seattle or Seatac Airport:
Drive I-5 north to Mukilteo Ferry Terminal near Everett, WA. This car and walk-on ferry departs to Clinton, Whidbey Island, every 30 mins. and is a 20 min. long ride. No reservations accepted. Add another 15 minute drive to Freeland and A Home On The Harbor.
Two ways from Bellingham, WA or Vancouver, B.C.:
- Drive south on I-5, take WA-20 W and then WA-525 to Freeland. This way will take you over the Deception Pass Bridge and will not have a ferry. Follow this highway to Freeland and A Home On The Harbor.
2. Drive I-5 south to Mukilteo Ferry Terminal near Everett, WA. This car and walk-on ferry departs to Clinton, Whidbey Island, every 30 mins. and is a 20 min. long ride. No reservations accepted. Add another 15 minute drive to Freeland and A Home On The Harbor.
Ferry tips: In the summer and holidays always plan ahead for wait times. Don’t cut in the waiting line, this is taken very seriously. Check out VesselWatch or the WSDOT app to see the ferry lines. The ferry has restrooms and a snack bar. Be sure to keep your eyes open for whales!
Other Options: If you don’t want to drive, or maybe you are meeting someone with a car, ask me about other options such as the Airport Shuttle from SeaTac or small flights to the island. We do highly recommend a car on the island, but there is a local taxi service and a bus service. A Home On The Harbor is with in walking distance of shops.
